MONTREAL, October 6, 2020 - For 10 years now, Tuango is proud to be a leading figure in the online shopping field in Quebec.

Tuango was founded in 2010 by 4 visionaries of a company using the purchasing power of a group of consumers to negotiate and obtain a better price. At the time, this was an innovative concept in Quebec, called “group buying”; concept which has now evolved into that of a Quebec platform dedicated to broadcasting the best offers to its Quebec audience.

Since its launch, Tuango has remained focused on the Quebec market and has dedicated itself entirely to serving Quebecers, remaining one of the main ingredients of its local success.

Another important element, Tuango has helped businesses get branded and sell online for the first time. In the early 2010s, restaurants, spas and many businesses had no way of selling on the web. Tuango gave them this possibility with access to a large pool of local consumers.

In 10 years, here are the key moments of Tuango’s success summarized in a “top 10” :

  • In 2010: Tuango is the first company to launch a “group buying” model in Quebec.
  • In 2012: Tuango acquired the Le Renard website, a competitor owned by the La Presse group.
  • In 2013: Tuango acquired the Promo du Jour website, a competitor owned by the Pages Jaunes group.
  • In 2013: That same year Tuango received the prestigious Ernst & Young award for Entrepreneur of the Year - Emerging Entrepreneurs category.
  • In 2014: Tuango and its new investor, the Fonds de Solidarité des Travailleurs du Québec (FSTQ), bought back shares held by TorStar and the La Presse group.
  • In 2015: Tuango passed the $ 40 million sales milestone and thus became one of the largest e-commerce sites in Quebec and the undisputed leader in its category.
  • In 2017: Tuango is the first Canadian company to deploy the technology of “card linked offers” (discounts directly linked to credit cards) by launching its Tab program with Mastercard. Although this application has been shelved, it remains a tool with enormous potential for the future of the company.
  • In 2018: Tuango begins to implement tools to enable the purchase of tickets for shows online and the reservation of hotel rooms directly on the site in order to improve the experience of its users and partners.
  • In 2019: Tuango invests even more on the social side with its support for Opération Enfant Soleil, becoming its partner of choice for online sales and raffles. Tuango has raised over $ 100,000 for the organization already.
  • In 2020: Tuango launches the Support Quebec initiative to help local businesses gain free visibility and enable them to generate traffic and sales during the difficult months of Covid-19. This program generated more than 150,000 visits to participating Quebec companies.

Committed to its community, Tuango has also supported organizations such as the Salvation Army, Mira, the Special Olympics Quebec, as well as many other causes that affect Quebecers.

With more than 3.5 million coupons sold in 10 years, Tuango has allowed Quebecers to discover, live thousands of experiences and purchase quality products and services while achieving a total of 590 million in savings!
